synthroid.jpgWhat is Synthroid? Synthroid is a hormone replacement usually administered to patients having thyroid problems. It is administered to patients’ who have a thyroid that does not produce enough of this hormone on its own. The most common problem that it addresses is hypothyroidism, and goiter. Stop! Before we continue, what is hypothyroidism? Hypothyroidism is an illness that affects not only humans but also some animals that have inadequate production of thyroid hormone. This thyroid hormone is produced by the thyroid gland. Common symptoms for hypothyroidism in its earliest symptoms are: fatigue, depression, intolerance to the cold, paleness, constipation, goiter, and bradycardia. Less common symptoms of this affliction are: Migraine headache, impaired memory, Sluggish reflexes, Hair loss, Shortness of breath, increased need for sleep, and Anxiety.

Almost anyone can take Synthroid ; it is not restricted only for males or females. Those who need to take caution in taking it though are those who’ve gone through a heart attack. Other concerned parties who should not take this tab those who have a thyrotoxicosis, which is another thyroid problem, or those afflicted with an adrenal gland problem that cannot be controlled by the pill treatment. Before you ask your doctor about this medication or in case he prescribes it to you, do inform him of your medical history, especially if you have a hearty disease, anemia, diabetes among your list of maladies.

Contrary to some people’s beliefs, Synthroid is not medication for depression. Depression is actually not the diagnosis but most often the symptom for a greater issue. As seen on the first paragraph, depression is one of the most common symptoms of thyroid problems.
